Careers at ByteBreach Security Academy

Last Updated: October 2026

ByteBreach is currently developing stealth mode operations. No active roles are open right now, and we would rather say that plainly than keep a decorative listing page open. The academy is run by a small team of network and security engineers, and it is being built to serve an increasing number of learners, so the roster below is a description of the kind of contributors we intend to work with when those roles do open.

How we work

ByteBreach is an independent, remote-first education project. The team ships the curriculum, maintains the lab environment, reviews community contributions, and handles the support queue. We favour small, autonomous teams over layers of management, written communication over scheduled meetings, and shipping something that works over a long design cycle. Everything we publish is reviewed by a second pair of eyes before it goes live, which is what keeps the material accurate.

Because the platform is funded by advertising and open to learners everywhere, we also care a great deal about trust: we do not sell learner data, we do not accept sponsorship from anyone whose product we would not recommend to a student, and we publish a corrections policy so that any mistake in the material is traceable and fixable.

Roles we intend to open

  • Curriculum engineer, networking. Someone who has run production campus and enterprise networks and wants to turn that experience into accurate, well-paced material for learners who do not have access to the same kit.
  • Curriculum engineer, security. A practitioner in offensive or defensive security who is comfortable writing walkthroughs that are technically precise, reproducible, and framed in terms of authorised testing.
  • Lab platform engineer. Someone comfortable with isolated sandbox design, container orchestration, and building challenge environments that are safe to expose to the internet.
  • Frontend and platform engineer. Next.js, TypeScript, and web performance work, plus the patience to keep an interface fast on the mid-range Android devices that most of our learners actually use.
  • Community and support lead. Someone who enjoys helping people get unstuck, can write clearly, and can tell the difference between a learner mistake and a broken lab.

Speculative applications

We do not keep a rolling CV list, and we would rather not invite a speculative application we cannot act on. If one of the roles above is live, it will be posted on this page with a location, a working pattern, and a description of the actual problem, and it will be mirrored on the academy’s official social channels: X, LinkedIn, GitHub and Telegram.

Contributions do not have to wait for a vacancy. The academy’s front end and learning material are public, and issues, corrections, and pull requests are genuinely welcome. If you would like to be considered for paid work later, say so in your contribution and we will keep you in mind.

What a first conversation looks like

When a role does open, the first conversation is a short technical chat rather than a formal interview. We would like to talk about a network problem you have actually diagnosed, a course or guide you have written, or a piece of software you have built. The format we use is roughly thirty minutes of discussion followed by a practical exercise that mirrors the actual work, done in your own time. There is no whiteboard algorithm puzzle and no trick question about how many browsers you have open.

What we are looking for is judgement. Anyone can reproduce a configuration that is already written down; the useful part of the job is deciding what to write down, how to explain it to somebody who does not yet have the vocabulary, and how to tell when a learner has understood something rather than merely memorised it. If that sounds like the kind of work you want to do, the contact page is the way to reach us.

Questions

If you want to clarify whether a role fits, or you need an accommodation for an interview or assessment, contact us through the support page and we will respond. We are not able to offer internships, apprenticeships, or work placements at present, and we cannot offer a role to a candidate who is not legally entitled to work in their location.
